Clay also known as lime is known to be used in pottery and to produce red burned bricks.
In rural places clay-rich soil formed to balls or mood-blocks, are still used for house construction and bread backing oven. They are mostly naturally dried, Fire bricks, baked like pottery are rarely used, do to large amount of fire-wood needed.
Adding fibre like grass to the limy soil, called Cob gets still used in Western Africa as I know nel Mali and Burkina Faso in some rural zones, but its nearly forgotten allaround in Africa.
Cob is an amazing material for house, stove and even furniture construction. Cob is the natural fibre armed cement. Wall and ceiling become a homogeneous body which give a fresh room climate. Cob has a lot of advantages:
